A native of San Francisco, Dr. Russell Young has dedicated his career to helping patients achieve optimal oral health and confident, beautiful smiles through comprehensive and compassionate dental care.
Dr. Young began his dental career in 1977, opening his first practice in the Laurel Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. In 1996, the practice relocated to its current home and became known as San Francisco Star Dental. In 2022, it was rebranded as Symphony Dental Studio, while maintaining its founding philosophy: delivering high-quality, patient-centered dentistry in a modern, state-of-the-art environment.
With decades of clinical experience, Dr. Young places strong emphasis on clear communication and patient education. He believes that understanding treatment options helps reduce anxiety and builds trust, allowing patients to feel confident and supported throughout their care. Patients are treated like family, with a focus on long-term dental health and wellness.
Dr. Young is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, San Francisco Dental Society, and DOCS Education.
He is also a proud member of the American Academy of Clear Aligners (AACA), where he achieved a Done-in-One Invisalign case, demonstrating advanced proficiency in clear aligner therapy. Dr. Young actively participates in continuing education and peer collaboration through AACA, under the leadership of DR. David Galler as well as the Diamond Club Makers, led by DR. Michael Wollock.
Education
Dr. Young earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.
Personal Interests
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Young enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. He has a deep appreciation for jazz music and practices tai chi to maintain balance and wellness.
