When I was three, someone asked my brother and I what we wanted to be when we grew up. My brother said he wanted to be an astronaut, and I, in an effort to outdo him, thought really hard and proudly informed the person that I wanted to be a rocket ship. The following year, I had my first out-of-this-world experience at a dental clinic. It sounds cheesy, but between the robotic chairs, whirring tools, and in-ceiling TVs, I was sold. The next time someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was a little different. A few (a lot) years later, I graduated as a registered dental hygienist, and completed my degree (BDSc) through the University of British Columbia.
